• Question: If someone got frozen in ice for 70 years could they live

      Hi, nice question..

      the short answer is probably not. in fact, almost definitely not. there are some companies that promise to freeze people as soon as they die in the hope that one day in the future we will be able to bring them back to life, but so far there is absolutely no evidence that they will be able to do this.

      What is interesting is that if a person dies and is very cold at the time then they can survive having no hert beat ( and so basically being dead) for a relatively long time if the heart can be restarted later. For exmple, this doctor from Norway fell through ice and died, she had no heart beat for 40 minutes and then only had CPR (no natural heart beat) for several hours longer but she survived. It is likely that the cold water helped prevent damage to her brain so that she was able to wake up after all this.
