I was in year 9. I was in a pretty bad school and my science teacher made me do extra science after school. I was really annoyed as I wanted to be out with my mates. He was a biologist and got me thinking about the brain and the body and how it all interacts. He really started my love for science. I was the first of his pupils to go study science at uni. Unfortunately he died before I got my PhD (to make me a Dr of Science) but my thesis (the book we have to write for our PhD) is dedicated to him!
