Hi there! this is interesting! I didn’t really set out to be a sleep scientist at all! I love the brain since I was a teenager, particular I like how the brain adapt to changes. In brain science this process is called plasticity. I think there is a huge medicinal power in the brain’s natural ability in repairing itself and change itself to learn new things. It is commonly believed that the brain undergo extensive repairing during sleep, so that’s why I go into sleep research after my PhD. After getting in the field, I start to like it more and more, particularly fasciated by consciousness, how we transiently “loss” it during sleeping 🙂
