Great question. During the sleep, specifically deep sleep, our brain signals the release of growth hormone. If we are still able to grow, we will grow during our sleep. For adults, this is when our cells repair, muscles repair if we have been working out, and our immune system refreshes.

Babies have loads of deep sleep and we think its because they have loads of growing to do.
