I do many things to help my patients sleep. One of which is to sit with them and answer all of their questions. Another way is to investigate what type of sleep problems my patients have and try to treat that problem. Not only treat it but also follow up with the patients until their problem solved. I do variety of things to achieve this goal. One thing I always do for my patients who stop breathing during sleep is to treat them with a device called CPAP. CPAP basically make the airway open so patients can breath because when you sleep the muscle in the tongue and in the neck get relaxed and this sometime cause closure of the airway either partially or completely, and the CPAP prevent this problem from happening. This is a huge problem and there are around 2.5 million people in the UK have this problem.
