• Question: which animal sleeps the longest?

      That is a really good question and I have to admit I don’t know they answer.

      What I can say though, is that the bigger an animals is, the longer it tends to sleep at a time so I wold guess it would be something like an elephant or a whale.

      You might think that hibernation is a kind of sleep… to be honest we are not sure whether it is or not, but what is interesting is that animals that hibernate for a long time (like squirrels that live int he arctic) will wake up form their hibernation from time to time and when they do ‘wake up’ they get very warm, then they have a sleep before going back into hibernation. So it seems that sleep and hibernation are not the same thing, and that even after a long hibernation, animals still feel sleepy!
